More about Georgia

Georgia Pugh’s work is in numerous collections throughout the United States, including The Metropolitan and Philadelphia Museums, Milwaukee Art Museum, Yale University Gallery, University of Wisconsin, Dartmouth, Goucher, and Smith Colleges, the Library of Congress, Boston Public Library, and The Print Center of Philadelphia. Her paintings and drawings have been featured in exhibitions at museums and galleries in Denver, Madison, Wisconsin, and, in Manhattan, Luise Ross Gallery, The Drawing Center, Associated Artists, and a solo show at the Durst Gallery. Her most recent solo exhibition took place at the Rockefeller Gallery in Pleasantville, New York.

For several years, Ms. Pugh has focused on her “Seawall” series of oil paintings, portraying ruined structures which were built to keep the water from the land. The use of this imagery is intended to provoke a sense of the perpetual struggle between human will and the forces of nature.
